Peter McArdle
Following a thirty-year career with Standard Motor Products, Peter recently retired as a sales and technical instructor and content developer at the company’s corporate training center in Irving Texas. He has participated in several ASE test writing workshops for air-conditioning and has presented at the MACS annual training event for almost twenty years.
On moving to the training center, many of the challenges facing the aftermarket due to the difficulties associated with the industry transition from R-12 to R-134a were at their peak. It was apparent that repairing R-134a systems successfully was a much more exacting science. Developing new and persuasive training content that addressed these new challenges that could be shared with the industry at scale was imperative. Insights gained during this turbulent period enabled Peter to provide valuable input in both product and tool development.
Peter hopes that his experience developing and delivering training content and understanding the firsthand experience of technicians repairing automotive air-conditioning systems can help him provide relevant input to the board in the area of technician education.
