Preventive maintenance! Check your cooling system belts and hoses
Extreme heat is still gripping much of the United States and summer long-distance travel is still on many people’s agenda. In order to make it through the rest of this record breaking hot summer make sure to have your service professional check your engine cooling system belts and hoses.
The cooling system hoses and belts can deteriorate over a period of time. The hoses can develop leaks; the belts can crack, shred, glaze and/or break. For this reason, a pressure check of the cooling system should be performed at least once a year, and a visual inspection made to spot any impending belt problems. These checks can indicate a potential failure before a breakdown occurs.
When having your mobile A/C system professionally serviced, insist on proper repair procedures and quality replacement parts. Insist on recovery and recycling so that refrigerant can be reused and not released into the atmosphere.
