Rotary Vane Compressors

Rotary vane compressors contain a solid rotating cylinder called an impeller. The impeller is equipped with vanes that move in and out of slots in the impeller.
The impeller is placed within an elliptical chamber containing a large-volume section and a small-volume section. Low pressure/low temperature refrigerant vapor is drawn into the large volume section. The vane’s sweeping motion forces the vapor into the small volume section, compressing it, and causing it to change into high pressure/high temperature vapor.
When having your mobile A/C system professionally serviced, insist on proper repair procedures and quality replacement parts. Insist on recovery and recycling so that refrigerant can be reused and not released into the atmosphere.
