Scroll Compressors

In a scroll compressor, a scroll shaped “paddle” rotates inside a channel. By the offset of the paddle drive pin, the compressor drive shaft rotates the paddle in an orbiting or circular motion.
Low pressure/low temperature refrigerant is drawn into the outer opening of the scroll. The sweeping motion of the orbiting scroll causes the vapor to be compressed toward the center, where it is forced out as a high temperature/high pressure vapor.
When having your mobile A/C system professionally serviced, insist on proper repair procedures and quality replacement parts. Insist on recovery and recycling so that refrigerant can be reused and not released into the atmosphere.
