Staff Spotlight: Maria Watchous

Since its founding in the 1980s, MACS has functioned as an organization committed to aiding its members, continually seeking ways to be of service. None of this would be achievable without the exceptional team behind the scenes, diligently working behind the phone and screens. With this in mind, we’re excited to introduce Maria Watchous, the Director of Operations here at MACS!
About Maria
Maria, who grew up in many states in the U.S. with a current long-term residence in Pennsylvania, has just surpassed the 25th-anniversary mark for MACS in March. In the beginning, Maria started in a customer service role where she provided exceptional service to our members and gained experience in the everyday functions of MACS. Just a few short years later, Maria transitioned to her current role as the Director of Operations. In this role, she continues to take care of our members as well as all of our staff needs.
She continues learning and advancing her career in many aspects, stating that the most challenging part of her role currently is keeping up with software issues and changes. Although challenging, she takes these issues on head-first with a positive outlook. In her own words, “I know more about IT than I ever imagined!” The main reason she chose MACS was due to meeting some of the friendliest people she has ever known with whom she’s made lasting connections. Along with that, she has learned that kindness and patience go a very long way.
Outside of MACS, Maria enjoys partaking in many outside activities including hiking, kayaking, and vacations with family. Currently, she is obsessing over Outlander, her go-to show when she gets home to relax. When she’s not relaxing, she is taking care of her two fur babies. She has a border collie/beagle mix named Jada who in her words is “the best dog in the world.” She also has a feral four-pound, seventeen-year-old cat, Crookers.
